Crete rocked by 5.5 magnitude earthquake on Wednesday morning


An earthquake off the southeast coast of Crete, measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale, was recorded by the Institute of Geodynamics at the Athens Observatory on Wednesday morning.

The earthquake was felt as far away as Iraklio and reportedly took place at 11:36am, with the epicenter located southeast of Ierapetra. Power outages have been reported in certain areas on the island.
